Lubbock in my rearview mirror

First I would like to thank God for blessing me with the resources to make this trip, that includes my sister and brother-in-law who are keeping my dog while I am away. And my friend Al who has continuously encouraged me to do this. I could not and can not do this without all of them.

I left Lubbock on Thursday May 9th, 2008 for a six week, God willing, road trip on my 2007 Suzuki DL 1000 VStrom. To say I have no plan is not exactly true. Whenever I am asked where I am going, I reply, “I plan to go South, then East, then North, then West.” The only time sensitive destination is Chicago. I plan to be there the end of the third week in June for a conference. After that, I will decide whether to come back to Lubbock or go West to the Washington and Oregon, then come back down through Iowa and Utah. Of course anyone who knows me, knows this could all change three minutes into the trip. This trip is more about the journey than the destinations. This is your invitation to come along for the ride.

So, if life is what happens while you are busy making plans, I’ll take an order of adventure, hold the plan.
